Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 19: Dun  &amp;  Bradstreet, a leading global provider of business decisioning data and analytics, along with SIDBI, released SPeX (also known as the 'Green Pulse Indicator') for July-September 2024, which evaluates the perception of sustainability among MSMEs across three key dimensions: willingness, awareness, and implementation. The index revealed a 30% jump in willingness during July - September 2024 followed by awareness, which saw a 4% increase to 62; while implementation dropped 15% to 41 compared to the previous quarter. Both the willingness and awareness dimension increased, and implementation fell from the last year quarter.

The government on Thursday said coal-based power generation rose 3.87 per cent in the April-October period of the current fiscal year.
"...there was a significant growth of 3.87 per cent in coal-based power generation from April 2024 to October 2024 compared to the same period last year," the coal ministry said in a statement.
The ministry further said the imports for blending purposes by thermal power plants dropped 19.5 per cent during the same period.
This decline emphasises the country's commitment to achieve self-sufficiency in coal production and reducing reliance on imports.
"Increase in coal import for power sector is attributed to the import of coal by imported coal-based power plants (designed to utilise imported coal only) i.e. 30.04 MT during this period, up from 21.71 MT, reaching a growth of 38.4 per cent in the corresponding timeframe last year," it said.

Hitting out at Congress for "failing" to address the unemployment issue during its decades in power, Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil on Thursday claimed that the initiatives taken by the BJP-led NDA government has reduced brain drain of the youth.

As many as 17.49 lakh members of retirement fund body EPFO have applied for the option to contribute on their actual (higher) basic pay for eventually getting higher pension after an apex court order in November 2022, Parliament was informed on Monday.
Presently, these applicants are either contributing or contributed on fixed threshold of Rs 15,000 per month, irrespective of their higher actual basic wages.
"In implementation of the judgement on November 4, 2022 passed by Supreme Court, an online facility was provided by EPFO, wherein total 17.49 lakh applications for Validation of Option/Joint Options were successfully submitted by the applicants," stated Minister state of Labour & Employment Shobha Karandlaje.

India has 1,065 large dams that are between 50 and 100 years old while 224 are over a century old, the Jal Shakti Ministry said on Monday.
There are a total of 6,138 constructed and 143 under-construction dams in the country.
Responding to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary said the government enacted the Dam Safety Act, 2021 to address the challenges posed by ageing dams and to prevent disasters arising from dam failures.
He said dams, apart from serving irrigation and power generation purposes, play a significant role in mitigating floods.
According to the National Register of Large Dams (NRLD-2023 edition), compiled jointly by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) and CWC, there are 6,138 constructed and 143 under construction dams which aggregate to a total of 6,281 large dams.
Of these numbers, only 224 dams are more than 100 years old and there are 1065 large dams which are 50 to 100 years old.

Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav, who purportedly gave controversial statements at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad function, appeared before the Supreme Court collegium on Tuesday, sources said.
According to the sources, Yadav appeared before the collegium headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and was asked to put forth his version on the statements made.
The top court on December 10 took note of news reports over the statements and sought a report from the Allahabad High Court on the issue.
"The Supreme Court has taken note of newspaper reports of a speech given by Mr Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, a sitting judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. The details and particulars have been called from the high court and the matter is under consideration," an official statement had said.
