British telecom firm Vodafone has sold its entire stake in Indus Towers for Rs 2,800 crore, the telecom infrastructure firm said on Friday.
Vodafone has sold 7.92 crore or 3 per cent stake in Indus Towers and used Rs 890 crore from the proceeds to clear lenders dues, the company said in a regulatory filing.
"Vodafone Group Plc announces that it has successfully completed the placing of its remaining 79.2 million shares in Indus Towers Limited ("Indus") representing 3.0 per cent of Indus' outstanding share capital through an accelerated book build offering on 5 December 2024," the filing said.
The company held 3 per cent stake through its indirect wholly-owned subsidiaries, Omega Telecom Holdings Pvt Ltd and Usha Martin Telematics Limited.
"Residual proceeds of Rs 19.1 billion (USD 225 million) have been used to acquire 1.7 billion equity shares in Vodafone Idea Limited through a preferential allotment of shares (a "Capital Raise"), increasing Vodafone's shareholding in Vi to 24.39

Fair trade regulator CCI on Tuesday approved US-based global investment firm Carlyle's proposal to acquire a 68.9 per cent stake in Roop Automotives Ltd.
"The proposed combination involves certain inter-connected steps resulting in inter alia securities swap between HIL Shareholder and RAL, and the acquisition of up to 68.9 per cent shareholding in RAL by Investor," the regulator said in a release.
CA Carob Investments (investor) is a Mauritius-based special-purpose vehicle owned and controlled by affiliates of the Carlyle Group Inc (Carlyle). As of September 30, 2024, Carlyle has USD 447 billion of assets under management.
Roop Automotives Ltd (RAL) and Highway Industries Ltd (HIL) are engaged in the manufacturing and selling of auto components.
"Commission approves the proposed combination involving inter-connected steps resulting in inter alia the acquisition of up to 68.9 per cent shareholding in Roop Automotives Ltd by CA Carob Investments (Investor)," CCI said.

The initial public offering (IPO) of Capital Infra Trust, an infrastructure investment trust (InvIT), received 39 per cent subscription on the first day of bidding on Tuesday.
The issue received bids for 3,46,59,300 units against the offered 8,83,83,750 units, according to data available on the stock exchanges.
Other investors portion received 87 per cent subscription.
Capital Infra Trust, sponsored by Gawar Construction, has garnered Rs 703 crore from anchor investors.
The issue, with a price band of Rs 99-100 per unit, will conclude on January 9.
The company's IPO is a combination of a fresh issue of units aggregating up to Rs 1,077 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of units valued up to Rs 501 crore by the sponsor selling unitholder Gawar Construction Ltd. This takes the total size to Rs 1,578 crore.
The public issue of Capital Infra Trust (formerly National Infrastructure Trust) has become the first InvIT IPO of 2025.
