A day after two key suspects in the rape and murder of a doctor at the RG Kar hospital got bail, the Left parties and the Congress on Saturday staged protests at various locations in Kolkata, alleging that the CBI  has "failed" to deliver justice in the case.
They also alleged that the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal and the BJP-led Centre have a "tacit understanding".
The Congress took out a procession from Rabindra Sadan area to CBI's office at Nizam Palace in southern Kolkata and criticised the central probe agency for its alleged inability to frame charges against the two accused in the case.

After spending the night in a local prison after being arrested in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede during the
premiere of his latest film, , actor Allu Arjun walked out of jail on Saturday following an interim bail granted by the Telangana High Court.
Arjun had to spend Friday night in prison despite the HC relief, as the authorities had not received a copy of the bail order until late last night.
"He has been released," Ashok Reddy, his counsel, told reporters at the Chanchalguda prison.
Reddy claimed the prison authorities did not release the actor despite having got the High Court order copy.
"You should question the government and the department why they have not released the accused. The High Court order is very specific. Forthwith, the moment you (prison authorities) receive the order, ( they should) release him. Despite the clear order, they have not released, they have to answer. This is an illegal detention. We will take legal steps, Reddy said.

Artificial intelligence major OpenAI used feedback from artists and creatives globally, including Indians, to develop its text-to-realistic video generation platform Sora, the company said on Wednesday.
OpenAI has rolled out Sora, which can generate realistic video from text, across majority of markets, including India.
"Since sharing our research preview of Sora earlier this year, we've worked with artists and creatives worldwide, including in India, drawing on their feedback to develop a new and significantly faster version of the model.  India has a world-famous community of creatives, artists, and filmmakers, and we're excited to see the new ways they create using Sora," an OpenAI spokesperson said.
The model enables users to generate videos up to 1,080 pixel resolution, up to 20 second long, and in widescreen, vertical or square aspect ratios.
OpenAI is offering Sora as part of ChatGPT Plus account at no additional cost.

BJP leader Pravin Darekar on Wednesday hinted that some MPs of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) could cross over to his party if development was their priority.
Many Maha Vikas Aghadi MPs, especially those from the NCP (SP), represent constituencies where the BJP-led alliance won most seats in the assembly elections, he said.
