Jay Shah, who took charge as ICC chairman earlier this month, on Thursday met with top officials of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics organising committee to discuss the sport's potential inclusion in the Summer Games.
Cricket will make a return to the Olympics after 128 years when it is played in the 2028 Los Angeles Games. The sport is not yet confirmed for the 2032 edition in Brisbane.
"Very exciting time ahead for Cricket's involvement in the Olympics movement - a meeting with the @Brisbane_2032 organizing committee in Brisbane, Australia today," Shah posted on X with visuals of the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Brisbane 2032 organising committee chief Cindy Hook and Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley.
The former BCCI secretary is expected to watch the action of the third Test between India and Australia, starting at the Gabba from Saturday.

Teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is not as excited at the prospect of becoming the youngest ever to play in the IPL as he is at being coached by the legendary Rahul Dravid at Rajasthan Royals.

Senior AAP leader and former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Monday said he was inspired by educator Avadh Ojha's vision and dedication for education to vacate the Patparganj seat for him.
Sisodia, who held the Patparganj seat since 2013, was fielded by AAP from the Jangpura constituency in the assembly polls.
Ojha, a UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) coaching expert who recently joined AAP, will contest the polls from Patparganj.
In a letter to AAP volunteers in Patparganj, Sisodia termed the constituency a symbol of the new revolution of education-based politics.
"The schools in Patparganj are not only centres of education but also laboratories of future-building," he said.
The former deputy chief minister said Ojha, at the time of joining AAP, expressed an willingness to start his political journey from the "laboratory of education" -- Patparganj.

Hundreds of Syrian refugees gathered at two border crossings in southern Turkey on Monday, eagerly anticipating their return home following the fall of President Bashar Assad's government.
Many arrived at the Cilvegozu and Oncupinar border gates at daybreak, draped in blankets and coats. Some camped by border barriers, warming themselves with makeshift fires or resting on the cold ground. The crossings correspond to the Bab al-Hawa and Bab al-Salameh gates on the Syrian side of the border.
Among those waiting at Cilvegozu was 28-year-old Muhammed Zin, who was excited at the prospect of returning home. He fled Damascus in 2016 and has been living and working in Istanbul.

The turbulent relations between Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and the INDIA bloc came to a head on Monday, with opposition camp sources saying they are considering submitting a notice "very soon" for moving a resolution to remove the vice president from his office.
Sources said though the Congress has spearheaded the move for bringing in a motion to remove Vice President and Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and has brought several opposition leaders of the INDIA bloc on board, it is yet to finalise whether to move forward with it or not.
No decision was taken on the move after discussions within, they said, adding another meeting would take place on Tuesday morning.

Airlines in India have reported 809 hoax bomb threats in the last five years, with 719 in 2024 alone, as per data tabled in Parliament.
"Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has information of a total of 809 hoax bomb threats received by airlines since 2020," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
According to the data shared by the minister, four hoax bomb threat messages were reported by the airlines in 2020 and two in 2021.
In 2022, airlines in India reported 13 hoax bomb threat messages, which rose to 71 in 2023, as per the data.
In 2024, 719 hoax bomb threat messages have been reported by the airlines, according to the data.
Aviation security regulator Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has mandated robust protocols for handling such threats, the minister said.
Moreover, a detailed contingency plan -- Bomb Threat Contingency Plan (BTCP) -- is in place to handle such threats. As a part of BTCP, every airport has
