India's imports from its free trade agreement partner UAE have jumped 109.57 per cent year-on-year to USD 6.12 billion in November, leaving a trade deficit of over USD 3 billion during the said month, according to the commerce ministry data.
India's exports to the UAE rose by 11.38 per cent to USD 3 billion in the last month.
Cumulatively, the imports from the UAE during April-November rose by 60.84 per cent to USD 44.76 billion against USD 27.83 billion in the same period previous fiscal, while exports were up by 15.25 per cent year-on-year to USD 23.94 billion compared to USD 20.77 billion in April-November 2023-24.
The FTA between India and the UAE came into effect in May 2022.
The UAE is the third-largest trading partner of India with USD 83.65 billion bilateral trade in 2023-24.
The major goods imported include mineral oil, chemicals, essential oils and perfumes, precious and semi-precious stones, iron and steel products, copper, nickel and aluminium goods.

As many as 438 infrastructure projects with a total cost of Rs 150 crore or above have shown a 62 per cent cost overrun amounting to Rs 5.18 lakh crore, Parliament was informed on Monday.
According to a written reply to the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State for Statistics & Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh, the original total cost of these 438 projects increased to Rs 13.56 lakh crore from Rs 8.38 lakh crore.
As on November 1, 2024, a total of 438 of 1,747 projects on the monitor of the ministry reported cost overrun of Rs 5.18 lakh crore, registering an increase of 61.82 per cent, according to the data shared by the minister showed.
As reported by the project implementing agencies, the main reasons for the increase in cost of the projects are under-estimation of original cost, changes in rates of foreign exchange and statutory duties, spiralling land acquisition costs and shortage of skilled manpower/labour, the Minister said.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has issued an advisory warning students against participating in the screening of a banned BBC documentary featuring Narendra Modi, stating such activities could disturb "communal harmony" on campus.
The advisory comes ahead of a screening of 'India: The Modi Question' by the Left-backed All India Students Federation (AISF) at Ganga Dhaba Tuesday night.
The university said no permission had been granted for the screening, calling it "unauthorized and unwarranted."
"It has come to the notice that a group of students has released a pamphlet for screening a banned documentary scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 p.m. at Ganga Dhaba. No prior permission for this event has been taken from the IHA. This is to emphasise that such an unauthorized activity may disturb communal harmony and peaceful environment of the University Campus," the advisory issued on Monday read.

Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav, who purportedly gave controversial statements at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad function, appeared before the Supreme Court collegium on Tuesday, sources said.
According to the sources, Yadav appeared before the collegium headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and was asked to put forth his version on the statements made.
The top court on December 10 took note of news reports over the statements and sought a report from the Allahabad High Court on the issue.
"The Supreme Court has taken note of newspaper reports of a speech given by Mr Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, a sitting judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. The details and particulars have been called from the high court and the matter is under consideration," an official statement had said.
