The AAP government will always stand with the doctors and is prepared to introduce a law to prevent violence against them if needed, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said on Sunday.
Addressing the annual conference of the Delhi State Medical Association as the chief guest, the chief minister emphasised the critical role the doctors play in the society not just as healthcare providers but also as sources of trust and emotional support.
"At times, we hear about incidents of violence against the doctors. If such a need arises in Delhi, the government will bring in a Doctors Protection Act to address these concerns," she said.
Highlighting the government's inclusive approach, Atishi stated that policies for healthcare professionals have always encompassed both government and private sector doctors.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said there must be "a foreign policy for Viksit Bharat" as he underlined that changes in foreign policy are needed amid a changing landscape.
In his address at the launch of 'India's World' magazine here, he also said "when we speak about changing foreign policy, if there is talk of a post-Nehruvian construct, it should not be treated as a political attack".
Foreign policy expert C Raja Mohan chairs the editorial board of the magazine.
The external affairs minister said there are "four big factors" which should cause people in India to actually ask themselves as to "what are the changes which are necessary in a foreign policy".
"One, and I happened, by coincidence, to speak about it yesterday, for many, many years, we had what someone else very pithily summed up as the 'Nehru development model'. That was book released yesterday by Dr Arvind Panagariya," he said.

Allahabad High Court judge Shekhar Kumar Yadav, who purportedly gave controversial statements at a Vishwa Hindu Parishad function, appeared before the Supreme Court collegium on Tuesday, sources said.
According to the sources, Yadav appeared before the collegium headed by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and was asked to put forth his version on the statements made.
The top court on December 10 took note of news reports over the statements and sought a report from the Allahabad High Court on the issue.
"The Supreme Court has taken note of newspaper reports of a speech given by Mr Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, a sitting judge of the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. The details and particulars have been called from the high court and the matter is under consideration," an official statement had said.
