Higher Education Finance Agency to be set up

In his budget speech, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that a sum of Rs 1000 crore has been set aside for this purpose.

The government is setting up a Higher Education Finance Agency to help finance studies in Indian educational institutes. In his budget speech, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that a sum of Rs 1000 crore has been set aside for this purpose. 

This agency will be involved at looking at donations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds that can be directed for securing admission in higher education institutions. This will be a non-profit agency.

It will also leverage funds from the market.
