RIL AGM 2023: JioMart using WhatsApp witnessing strong growth

Reliance Retail last year announced that customers would be able to order groceries on WhatsApp, as tech giant Meta and Jio Platforms collaborated to launch JioMart on the popular messaging platform. 

 

Sandeep Varaganti, CEO, JioMart, this year said that JioMart, the e-commerce arm of Reliance Retail, has been recording a 30-40 per cent month-on-month growth in its business via WhatsApp, since the launch of the partnership last year.

RIL AGM 2023: 5G rollout may get completed before December 2023

RIL AGM: In a statement, Reliance Jio said it has deployed over 115,000 5G sites and nearly 690,000 5G cells across the country. It claimed that its fifth-generation network rollout is significantly ahead of its plan.

 

According to RIL's investor presentation for Q1FY2, Jio has covered over 90 per cent of census towns withits 5G network. The telecom operator is now aiming to conclude its 5G rollout ahead of its earlier target of December 2023.

RIL AGM 2023: Jio ends its cheapest data plan of Rs 199

RIL AGM: Last week, Reliance Jio announced that it is discontinuing its cheapest prepaid recharge plan of Rs 199. It encompassed unlimited voice calling, a daily data allocation of 1.5GB, and the ability to send 100 SMS per day. It, however, had a relatively short validity period of 14 days.

 

Now, its cheapest plan is for Rs 149. It plan offers a validity period of 20 days.

RIL AGM 2023: Jio's prepaid plan with Netflix a global first

RIL AGM: Earlier this month, Reliance Jio announced the launch of Jio prepaid plans bundled with a Netflix subscription. It marked the first occasion globally that a Netflix subscription is being offered within a bundled prepaid plan.

 

Jio already provides a bundled Netflix subscription with select Jio Postpaid and Jio Fiber plans.

 

The new prepaid plan is priced at Rs 1,099 and comes with an 84-day validity period, 2GB of data per day, unlimited voice calls, and unlimited 5G data. In comparison to this offering, Netflix's cheapest plan in India, known as Netflix Basic, currently costs Rs 149 per month or Rs 1,788 per year and is mobile-only.

 

The announcement becomes more significant with the company's plans of an IPO of Jio Infocomm.

Reliance AGM 2023: Jio continues to have highest subscribers in India

RIL AGM: Reliance Jio has continued to gain subscribers base, outperforming Bharti Airtel in the race to take Vodafone Idea's subscribers, according to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) for May.

 

Jio added nearly three million new subscribers during the month of May, more than twice as compared to Airtel, which added 1.3 million subscribers in the same period. Vodafone lost 2.8 million subscribers.

 

Reliance Jio continues to hold its position as the top wired (8.92 million) and wireless (436.31 million) broadband service provider in India with 51.96 per cent of the market share.
