Ashok Leyland strengthens retail presence in east with West Bengal outlet

Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland has set up a light commercial vehicle dealership in West Bengal, as part of plans to expand its footprint in the eastern region. With the setting up of new facility in Siliguri, the light commercial vehicle distribution network grew to more than 800 touch points, Ashok Leyland said. "We are excited to further strengthen our presence in this region. West Bengal and Eastern India at large, have been a key market for us. We have always recognized the potential this region has and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead in this geography. Ashok Leyland Q2 results: Net profit increases to Rs 766.55 crore

Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland announced on Friday a consolidated profit of Rs 766.55 crore for the July-September 2024 quarter. The city-based heavy commercial vehicle maker had registered a consolidated profit of Rs 550.65 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The consolidated total income during the quarter rose to Rs 11,261.84 crore, up from Rs 10,754.43 crore in the year-ago period. In a statement on Friday, the company said it maintains over 31 per cent market share in the domestic medium and heavy commercial vehicle segment. "Our focus on profitability continues. We are pleased to have improved our profitability by premiumising our products, addressing cost-reduction opportunities, and continuously enhancing our customer service standards," said managing director and CEO Shenu Agarwal. Hinduja Group flagship company Ashok Leyland on Monday began delivery of electric trucks to Billion Electric Mobility (Member of Group BillionE), a top official said on Monday. The city-based company had bagged a contract to supply 180 electric trucks to Group BillionE which would be operated in the Chennai-Bengaluru, Chennai-Vijayawada routes. Ashok Leyland ties up with Nidec to develop e-drive motors for vehicles

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland on Thursday said it has entered into a partnership with Japanese firm Nidec for developing e-drive motors for commercial vehicles. Under the multi-pronged collaboration, the two partners will work to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Electric Drive Units (EDUs), which will focus on developing motor technologies and power electronics systems for EVs, along with innovations in gear-shifting mechanisms, Ashok Leyland said in a statement. Ashok Leyland sees high enquiry from fleet operators amid consolidation

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has been seeing a high number of enquiries from fleet operators amid the segment going through a consolidation phase, the company has said. The company is also expecting the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (MHCV) segment to grow in a single-digit this fiscal as against earlier estimates of a flat growth, Sanjeev Kumar, President for MHCV, Ashok Leyland said on Friday here.
