The shale gas boom in the US has attracted one more Indian company, Aditya Birla Group, which is reportedly planning to invest $1 billion (about Rs 6,000 crore) for setting up a chemical/fertiliser plant. Already, Indian companies such as Reliance Industries, Gail India, etc have either acquired or have announced mega investments in shale assets in the US.

The Aditya Birla Group move is also aided by the fact that the US economy has started to show remarkable growth in the last few months. The company has not yet clarified whether the investment will be in a greenfield project or through acquisition.
