Aditya Birla Nuvo appoints Lalit Naik as MD

Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd, a division of the Aditya Birla Group active in textiles and apparel, carbon black, fertilisers, insulators and mobile telephony, has appointed Lalit Naik, the current Dy MD, as the Managing Director with effective from July 1, 2014. He will replace Dr Rakesh Jain, who has been the Managing Director since July 2009 and whose term expires on June 30, 2014.
 
Having over 25 years of global exposure in the building materials and chemicals sectors, Naik also heads the Aditya Birla Insulators Business and Indo Gulf Fertilizer Business. Within the Aditya Birla Group, he is on the boards of Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand), Aditya Birla Chemicals (India), Tanfac, Aditya Birla Grasun Chemicals (Fangchenggang), Thai Peroxide Company and Aditya Birla Science and Technology Company (ABSTC).
 
Dr Jain has been associated with the Aditya Birla Group since August 2003 when he joined as Managing Director of Indo Gulf Fertilisers Ltd (since merged with ABNL in 2006), and Director of the Aditya Birla Group's overseas chemical business. In March 2005, he was given the additional responsibility of Global CEO for the carbon black business, which has grown strategically from a regional business to a global business. In December 2008, Dr Jain was appointed Joint Managing Director of ABNL and subsequently Managing Director in July 2009.
