Andhra Petrochemicals stops production at Visakhapatnam plant

This is the second time in last three month that the company had to shut down its plant due to non-availability of propylene from HPCL

In its filing to BSE on November 18, 2013, Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd informed that the company’s plant at Visakhapatnam has been shut-down from November 17, 2013 due to non-supply of major raw material propylene from its supplier Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL). The company has not specified any time line for resuming the plant operations.

This is the second time in last three months that Andhra Petrochemicals had to shut down its Visakhapatnam facility, due to lack of availability of propylene from HPCL. In the earlier occasion, the plant was shut down on September 4, 2013, but resumed production from October 14, 2013. As per company website, Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd, in which Andhra Sugars Ltd is the major shareholder, produces oxo alcohols at Visakhapatnam.
