Brenntag acquires Italian food ingredients distributor Chimab

Brenntag, the Germany-based chemical distribution company, has agreed to acquire Chimab SPA, the Italy-based supplier of food ingredients and semi-finished products for several food subsectors, including beverage, ice cream and desserts, meat and prepared foods.
 
Karsten Beckmann, CEO Brenntag Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “With food ingredients and services being a strategic focus industry for Brenntag, this acquisition will further increase the market penetration of Brenntag in Italy and provide more value added services to new sectors within the food industry. It is a cornerstone and important contribution towards establishing and promoting the specialty business unit food in Italy and therewith becoming market leader in the industry sectors meat, bakery and ice-cream.”
 
For the financial year 2014 Chimab is expected to generate sales of more than Euro 32 million.
