A three-nation consortium of China Huanqin Contracting and Engineering Corporation, LEPL Ventures Private Limited and Isomeric Holdings (Malaysia) will build a Rs 10,183 crore gas-based fertiliser plan at Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP). An agreement to this effect was signed during AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu recent visit to China to mobilise investments for the state.

Vijayawada-based LEPL Ventures and Isomeric Holdings already have a joint venture in place to set up a regasification and storage terminal at Krishnapatnam Port in Nellore district. The terminal has 5 million tonnes per annum capacity. Experts believe the terminal can supply gas for the planned fertiliser plant at Krishnapatnam.

To attract investors, the Andhra Pradesh government is setting up a Chinese investment centre in about 10,000 acres in which China's small and medium enterprises will set up plants to produce construction materials, said Chandrababu Naidu during the visit.
