The Germany based specialty chemicals major, Evonik Industries, is planning to collaborate with universities and institutes in India to foster growth in the country. This move is expected to show results by 2016 when these planned associations start showing positive results. “In India, the key aim we focus on is to become preferred partner for our customers. Towards that end, we plan to take steps to strengthen our customer connect. We also look forward to associating more closely with Indian universities and research centers. By 2016, we hope to see these initiatives come to fruition and reflect in growth of our business in the region,” said an Evonik spokesperson from Germany in response to email query on the company’s plans for India.
Evonik started operations in India around a decade and a half back and its business in the region has seen steady growth. “By 2012, we have reached around € 200 million in sales. Today, all six business units of Evonik are operational in India and we have a growing number of Indian customers,” said spokesperson.
As part of its growth strategy, Evonik has established a long-term Asia growth programme. “Our aim is to raise our sales significantly in Asia by 2016,” added the spokesperson.
