The specialty chemicals company Lanxess India has won the ‘Company of the Year’ award under the rubber chemicals category in the recently held Tyre & Rubber Industry Leadership Acknowledgement (TRILA) awards in New Delhi. The award was presented to the company on June 15, 2016 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, in the backdrop of Tyre Expo India.

The recognition has come Lanxess India’s way on the back of a robust performance through its separate business line Anti-Oxidants and Accelerators (AXX) under Advanced Industrial Intermediates (AII) business unit (BU). Within a year and a half this business moved from being potentially divested to a position of aggressive growth. During this short period of time, the BU AII Management also invested in doubling the production capacities at the Jhagadia site for antioxidants production.

“This is a challenging business and has a lot of industry overcapacities and poor operating margins which has led a players to shut down globally as well as in India. We had to re-invent ourselves quickly and urgently work to improving efficiencies and cost competiveness in all areas, be it in our manufacturing processes, supply chain efficiencies or increasing productivity and we worked aggressively in all of them over the past year and half,” said Neelanjan Banerjee, senior executive director and senior vice president BU - AII, Lanxess India.
