Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, met Chief Secretary of Odisha in Mumbai on the sidelines of Make in India Week event to discuss a roadmap for developing downstream petrochemical industry in and around the 15 MMTPA Paradip refinery, which was recent commissioned.
To propel the development of plastic processing sector in the region, in addition to Paradip refinery, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is also setting up a polypropylene plant and other projects which are at various stage of implementation.
Dharmendra Pradhan requested the state government for allocation of land for early commencement of Hydrocarbon Skill Development Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. BPCL and HPCL officials, who were present at the meeting, also requested the Odisha Government for land in Koraput for a LPG plant on Common User Facility (CUF) basis.
Meanwhile, the Odisha Government appealed to the minister for setting up an aviation fuel refuelling facility in Koraput, a Left wing Extremism affected district, for the helicopters of the BSF and the state government.
