Praxair-Air Liquide JV bags oxygen supply contract from SECCO in China

Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Industrial Gases Company (SCIPIG), a joint venture between Praxair Inc and Air Liquide (two leading global suppliers of industrial gases), was recently awarded a 15-year industrial gases supply contract from Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Co Ltd (SECCO). Under terms of the agreement, SCIPIG will supply large volumes of pure oxygen to SECCO, located in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park (SCIP), for its sulfuric acid regeneration unit. The pure oxygen will increase the capacity of the unit, significantly reduce its emissions and improve its overall production efficiency.
 
SCIPIG will construct a new air separation unit (ASU), with a capacity of 900 tonnes per day of oxygen, as well as an integrated liquefier. The ASU is expected to start up in 2015. Additionally, SCIPIG will extend its pipeline network in the chemical industry park.
 
This agreement further strengthens the company’s supply capability and presence in SCIP, expanding its ability to meet the new industrial gas requirements of SECCO and other customers in the chemical industry park.
