Shree Pushkar Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd is planning to start commercial production at its new sulphate of potash (SOP) plant, located at Lote Parshuram, Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), in September this year. “The main plant has been imported on turnkey basis from China and has been successfully commissioned on August 01, 2016. The Company is currently in the process of conducting trial runs, and the full commercial production at the plant is scheduled to commence by September 2016 along with the calcium chloride plant, a by-product in the manufacturing process,” said Shree Pushkar Chemicals in a BSE filing on August 9, 2016.
The company, along with its expansion plans for manufacture of reactive dyes through the proceeds of the IPO, is currently setting up a plant for manufacturing sulphate of potash, a soluble potassic fertiliser, with a capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA).
SOP is a specialty fertiliser that provides valuable potassium and sulphur nutrients while avoiding the unwanted chloride associated with the conventional potassic fertiliser muriate of potash (MOP). The product has utility as a fertiliser of high-value chloride sensitive crops, specifically in the cultivation of fruits, horticulture, floriculture, etc, requiring greater sulphur nutrition.
