Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL), promoted by Zuari Industries Ltd, has awarded contract worth approximately $ 600 million to Toyo Engineering Corporation for the construction of a large-scale fertiliser complex in Kota, Rajasthan.

The complex, which is expected to start production in 2019, will have an ammonia plant with capacity of 2,200 tonnes per day (TPD) and a urea plant with capacity of 4,000 TPD. For this project, the ammonia production technologies of KBR, USA and Toyo’s urea synthesis technology - ACES21 - will be employed. Meanwhile, Toyo India has been independently awarded contracts for onshore engineering, procurement and construction works for the project.

In 1999, Toyo successfully completed a fertiliser complex for Chambal Fertilisers which has been in steady operation ever since. “Toyo’s achievements, its strong relationship with the client established over many years, and Toyo’s comprehensive proposal for project execution were highly evaluated and finally led to the award of this contract,” said Toyo Engineering in a press release.

This project is the second project received from CFCL, and the 15th fertilizer project that Toyo will construct in India since its first fertiliser project in the country in 1962.

“In the fast growing Indian market which has the second largest population in the world and a huge middle class, Toyo will strive for contributing to economic development of India and expanding its own business leveraging its vast experience and extensive expertise of a broad range of fields including fertiliser,” said Toyo in the press release.
