Uhde India has successfully achieved mechanical completion of Matix Fertilisers’ two 5,000 MT ammonia storage tanks and associated system in Panagarh in West Bengal. The mechanical completion certificate was handed over to UIPL by Essar Projects and Matix Fertilisers earlier this month.

The project which was implemented on lumpum turnkey basis was awarded by Essar Projects who was responsible for the greenfield coal bed methane gas-based ammonia urea complex of Matix Fertilisers, in which the ammonia storage tanks are located.

The scope of the project included basic design, detailed engineering, supply of equipment, project management, site management supervision services, erection, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning services and guarantee test run for the ammonia storage tanks.

The project deploys Uhde India’s proven ‘cup-in-tank’ double-walled cryogenic technology for the tanks. The project witnessed quality engineering and project implementation standards, meeting the pre-commissioning and mechanical completion requirement with an excellent Safety record covering 9.7 million safe man-hours without any lost time accident (LTA).

Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals is a flagship company of the Matix Group. Uhde India, a company of ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions AG, headquartered in Germany, has a rich experience of over 50 cryogenic storage installations in India and abroad, most of them on LSTK basis. It remains one of the leading consulting companies for cryogenic storages and tank farms.
