Zuari Agro Chemicals shuts down ammonia and urea plants

Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd, one of the leading fertiliser conglomerates in India, has shutdown its ammonia and urea plants at Goa due to technical reason. “Ammonia and urea plants of the company have been shutdown due to mechanical breakdown. NPK -A & B plants for manufacture of phosphatic and complex fertilisers are operating normal,” said Zuari Agro Chemicals in a BSE filing.

The entire manufacturing facility at Goa comprises four separate plants, namely the ammonia, urea, NPK A and NPK B. As per company website, the facility has an annual installed capacity of 11,00,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers. The urea plant, which has a capacity of 1,140 metric tonnes per day, is a single stream plant and utilises a Mitsui Toatsu total recycle-C process.
