Amtek inks pact with Tokyo-based Riken to set up iron casting foundry

The Delhi-based automotive components manufacturer Amtek India Ltd has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Tokyo-based Riken Corporation to build a new iron casting foundry in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan with initial capacity of 1.5 million per year of engine camshafts. The move is expected further consolidate Amtek’s market leading position within iron castings in India.
 
Riken Corporation is primarily engaged in the manufacture and sale of automotive components, industrial machinery parts and other products. It has manufacturing locations in Japan, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand, India, the US and Mexico.
 
This JV will strengthen Amtek's position in engine camshafts which is a performance critical engine component. With this new process, Amtek is now one of the few companies worldwide with the manufacturing technology to produce camshafts in casting, forging and tubular assembled conditions.
