Gamesa has received contract for a solar project totalling 15 MW in Tamil Nadu. This is the second project that Gamesa India has secured in its home market, bringing its overall solar portfolio to over 48 MW. Under this contract, Gamesa will be responsible for engineering & design, supply of inverters, erection and commissioning of the 15 MW solar farm. The project is expected to be commissioned with in the first quarter of 2016 in Puddukotai, Tamil Nadu.
Ramesh Kymal, chairman and managing director, Gamesa India said, “Today India is one of the most promising markets for solar energy and we have entered the solar business at the right time given our unparalleled O&M service network and project capabilities. This being our third project overall, will help us harness the huge solar potential in the country.”
It was only in July last year that Gamesa re-entered the solar scale in India to tap the booming renewable energy. K V Sajay, executive vice president - solar business unit, Gamesa India, said, “Our capabilities in the solar value chain include solar EPC solutions for MW scale solar projects, roof-top solar projects and rural/micro-grid projects besides continuing to expand our inverter solutions.”
