Intertek’s toy testing laboratory in Gurgaon

Intertek, a provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries around the world, has opened its first toy testing laboratory in India at Gurgaon. Through comprehensive testing and advisory services, this new NABL accredited laboratory will support toy retailers, brands, and manufacturers, in meeting standards and requirements established by the industry.

The lab offers a variety of services that include safety, physical, mechanical, flammability and chemical tests to ASTMF 963 and EN 71 (EU Toys Directive), as well as testing to the requirements of CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act). The toy testing at Intertek is done as per toy safety standard EN 71, ASTMF 963, CPSIA, AS/ NZS ISO 8124 (Australia and New Zealand), ISO 8124, SOR 2011/17 (Canada consumer product safety act), IS 9873  (Indian Standard), ST 2012 ( JAPAN).

Intertek’s Gurgaon toy testing laboratory offers additional services such as design evaluation, mock-up sample studies, initial product specification analysis, and product review that will help determine possible risk factors before your product is placed on store shelves and into the hands of consumers. Intertek is also participating in Kids India Exhibition, which is scheduled to be held from September 18-20, 2014 in Mumbai.

“Safety and quality are basic concerns for consumers, particularly for parents, who buy toys and other juvenile products. The Indian toy industry is a major market for both domestic and international companies and is presently expanding due to the growth in the size of the middle class. This trend is expected to continue in the coming years. The customised and specialised services provided by Intertek’s Gurgaon toy lab will help customers meet quality assurance needs throughout their supply chain, which will not only aide in brand protection, but also go a long way to reduce risks caused by defective toys,” said Manish Kumar, Regional Director, Softlines, South Asia.
