The Vadodara-based manufacturer of hydro turbines & generators, Jyoti Ltd, has won a Rs 422.98 crore order from Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd (SSNNL) in joint venture with Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) for complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of civil, electro-mechanical and hydro-mechanical works. Jyoti Ltd’s portion in this order will be about Rs 100 crore for supply of electro-mechanical equipment.

The order also includes five years operation and maintenance for Saurashtra Branch Canal Project in Mehsana district. MEIL is a civil infrastructure company from Hyderabad.

“The project includes three power houses on Saurashtra branch canal totalling 45 MW capacity.  The project is to be completed within 24 months. Power produced from these plants will offset power required for canal operation to some extent and hence stimulate the energy conservation activity for the project,” claimed the company in a press release. This is the largest hydel order received by Jyoti Ltd till date.

The company has received major orders totalling to about Rs 441.06 crore since April 2014 till date and at present has pending orders of Rs 900 crore.
