Thermax offers power plant based on AFBC technology
In October this year, Thermax had received a Rs 321 crore worth contract from the same African conglomerate to supply a captive power project for one of their cement plants. As a result of back-to-back repeat orders, Thermax can strengthen its position as the provider of lump sum turnkey solutions for customers in Africa.
M S Unnikrishnan, MD and CEO, Thermax, said, “We are excited about the business opportunities emerging in Africa. Our two-year project management experience in the continent should really help in seamlessly executing these projects.”
The power plant, to be commissioned within a time frame of 15-16 months, will utilise the latest generation atmospheric fluidised bed combustion (AFBC) boilers and high pressure steam cycle to facilitate optimal plant efficiency. Air-cooled condensers will ensure low water utilisation by the power plant, which has also been designed to respond to varying load requirements of the cement plant.
