Bangalore-based biotech major Biocon Ltd has acquired assets of Vishakapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) based Acacia Lifesciences Pvt Ltd, a contract research and manufacturing company. “The company has acquired the business assets of the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit of Acacia Lifesciences located at Vishakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with effect from October 01, 2015 on a going concern basis. This unit is presently manufacturing advanced intermediates of potent APIs useful to the company's business as well as for supply to third party customers,” said Biocon in a BSE filing on October 1, 2015.
Acacia Lifesciences facility, which is spread over 45,000 square feet, was commissioned in 2008 and currently APIs produced in the plant are sold both in domestic as well international markets.
Acacia Life Sciences, a US FDA approved pharmaceutical company, is promoted by a team of professionals and offers services in the areas of research & development, process optimisation and custom chemical manufacturing.
