Dr Reddy's launches esomeprazole DR capsules in US

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories has launched esomeprazole magnesium delayed-release (DR) capsules USP, 20 mg and 40 mg - a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Nexium (esomeprazole magnesium) delayed-release capsules manufactured by AstraZeneca - in the US market, following the approval by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
 
According to IMS Health, the Nexium (esomeprazole magnesium) delayed-release capsules brand and generic had US sales of approximately $5.2 billion MAT for the most recent twelve months ending in July 2015.
 
Esomeprazole is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which backward flow of acid from the stomach causes heartburn and possible injury of the oesophagus (the tube between the throat and stomach). Esomeprazole is used to treat the symptoms of GERD, allow the oesophagus to heal, and prevent further damage to the oesophagus.
