Dr Reddy's launches stomach ulcer treatment drug in US

The drug - omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate capsules - reportedly had US sales of approximately $ 306 million for the last twelve months ending in May 2016

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd has introduced omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate capsules (20 mg/1100 mg and 40 mg/1100 mg) - generic version of Zegerid capsules of Santarus Inc (a wholly owned subsidiary of Salix Pharmaceuticals Inc) - in the US, having been approved by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA). 

Zegerid is indicated for the treatment of heartburn and other symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is also used to treat ulcers and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid production. According to IMS Health, Zegerid brand and generic had US sales of approximately $ 306.7 million MAT for the most recent twelve months ending in May 2016.
 
Dr Reddy’s omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate capsules will be available in bottle count size of 30.
