Lupin launches antidepressant drug bupropion

Following an approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Lupin Limited on Thursday launched its antidepressant drug bupropion hydrochloride extended-release tablet (XL) in 150 mg and 300 mg strengthens. 

The newly launched product is the AB rated generic equivalent of Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America Llc’s Wellbutrin XL tablet. Wellbutrin (bupropion) is an antidepressant medication used to treat major depressive disorder and seasonal affective disorder.

Wellbutrin XL tablets had US sales of $ 758 million, as per IMS MAT May 2017.
