TCS joins hand with US university to advance life sciences research

The company, along with Vanderbilt University Medical Center, will drive specific research in areas such as genomics, systems biology, bio-informatics, advanced healthcare analytics, etc

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered into a new partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), USA, to drive innovation in the healthcare and life sciences fields. TCS and VUMC will drive specific research in areas including; genomics, metagenomics, systems biology, bio-informatics, improved care management, and advanced healthcare analytics. This important collaboration will also lay the foundation for TCS’ COIN emerging technology network to connect with Vanderbilt University’s Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization (CTTC) start-up community.

Dr Kevin Johnson, Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor and chair of biomedical informatics, professor of pediatrics, chief informatics officer, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, commented, “Research is one of VUMC’s core missions. As a partner in TCS’ Co-Innovation Network (COIN), the two organisations will combine forces surrounding product development, enhancement capabilities and go-to-market strategies in healthcare IT.
