French plastic companies are reportedly looking to tap India with their latest offerings for plastic industry, which is anticipated to grow manifold in near future. As a part of this strategy, these firms will use Plastindia 2015, one of the leading plastics industry tradeshow to be held from February 5-10, 2015 in Ahmedabad, to present novel technologies and solutions for gaining traction in the domestic market.

The Indian market is of particular interest to stakeholders all over the world because of its significant potential for development. It is estimated that the plastics industry will grow by over 50 percent by 2015. Plastic consumption per person and per year in India remains well below the global average (9.7 kg versus 26 kg). This results in an increased demand for high-quality, high-technology equipment.

Business France, the French agency for international business development, in partnership with the Plastipolis innovation cluster, is organising a French pavilion at the Plastindia trade show. About five companies will showcase and demonstrate their products at the pavilion. These include companies like Gavand (an expert in waste recovery and recycling), Plastdecor (a specialist in second-hand equipment for plastic transformation), Plastisud (one of the world leaders in manufacturing moulds), Provencale SA (a producer of calcium and other industrial minerals), and Spoolex – Decoup+ (which offers customised solutions for continuous ultrasonic cutting and welding of textiles, non-wovens, PP fabrics and plastic films).

“The French plastics industry is second in Europe in terms of sales and fifth worldwide. The five companies present in the French pavilion represent different sectors of the industry. Attracted by the Indian market's high growth rate, they will present their technologies and expertise to authorities in order to establish or strengthen business contacts,” said Business France in a press release.
