Govt plans to set up plastics park in Telangana
New CIPET campus will also come up in Medak district with an investment of Rs 50 crore

Stating that the Narendra Modi government wanted states to be stronger, he said the Union government would support the development of the newly-formed state of Telangnana.
Ananth Kumar assured the government will give complete support to plastic product manufacturers from the South Indian states in achieving full potential of polymers and plastics sector. The plastics industry is expected to touch 20 million tonnes (MT) of plastic usage by the year 2022, up from the current 11.5 MT.

The Minister also informed that the government will very soon sanction financial assistance to set up a new Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) campus in Rudraram of Medak district at a cost of Rs 50 crore. Currently, there are five CIPETs in the country at Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Lucknow and Kochi.
The new campus, which will be one of the biggest CIPET campus, will be spread over 20 acre and increase the intake capacity from the current 2,500 to about 5,000 in about two years.
