Pluss Polymers official with Kirloskar Technologies Award for MiraCradle
MiraCradle is an affordable passive cooling device which uses the advanced ‘savE’ phase change material (PCM) technology to induce therapeutic hypothermia among newborns suffering from birth asphyxia. The treatment is currently dependent on the expensive servo control instruments which costs Rs 15-20 lakhs and cannot be afforded by most hospitals in India and other developing nations. It has been developed by Pluss in collaboration with CMC, Vellore. It is easy to use, safe, lightweight, portable and gives precise temperature control of 33-34°C for a period of 72 hours with minimal manual supervision and no requirement of constant electricity supply. It costs less than one-fifth of the present servo control devices in the market.
Samit Jain, managing director, Pluss Polymers commented, “More than 90 babies have been treated using MiraCradle Neonate Cooler and over 20 hospitals across 10 states in India are currently using it. With this recognition, we believe that our product will soon become a mainstream treatment. This is a moment of pride and joy for us for being able to contribute towards reducing infant mortality in India.”
