Toyo bags contract for Sasol's polyethylene project in US

Japan's firm will provide detailed engineering, procurement, module fabrication, and construction support services for a 4,50,000-tpa LLDPEplant

Sasol has awarded a contract to Toyo Engineering Korea Limited, a subsidiary of Toyo Engineering Corporation, to provide detailed engineering, procurement, module fabrication, and construction support services for a 4,50,000 tonne per annum (tpa) linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE)plant as part of Sasol’s petrochemical complex to be established in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. Toyo has been executing the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) services for this plant since 2013. The plant is scheduled for completion in 2017.
 
Sasol is planning a world-scale ethane cracker with downstream derivatives including this LLDPE plant, applied the Unipol PE Process of Univation Technologies Llc.
 
Toyo has vast experience in executing Unipol LLDPE projects with 23 contracts (including this Sasol project) being received bythe company. “This award represents a strong foothold toward penetrating the US shale gas market and will continuously explore upcoming shale gas projects,” said Toyo in a press release.
