Tekni-Plex Inc, the US-based manufacturer of packaging, polymer compounds and tubing solutions, is planning to expand its closure liners production capability in India by adding a new production line at its newly acquired site at Ahmedabad, according to a Plastics News report.

In order to meet the high-standards of packaging in India, companies are increasingly focusing on quality sealing and closer solutions for packaged products. This has opened up huge opportunity for Tekni-Plex, which manufactures cap liners and seals (closure liners) for glass, metal and plastic containers. Tekni-Plex’s products ensure that the contents inside the packages are secure from contamination, leakage, or loss of product efficacy.

As a part of its strategy to tap the growing packaging market in India, Tekni-Plex in February this year had acquired the Ahmedabad-based Ghiya Extrusions Private Ltd, a leading supplier of EPE foam closure liners in the domestic India and export markets.

Ghiya Extrusions has provided a platform for Tekni-Plex to offer its existing and new Indian customers localised production of Tekni’s closure liner products for pharmaceutical, food and FMCG markets. It has also enabled Tekni to offer Ghiya products through its existing channels in India and Asia.

Tekni-Plex, which manufactures a wide range of liner materials and services for the closure liner industry, offer sealing gaskets and pressure sensitive and induction seal closure liners brands such as Tri-Seal, Top-Seals, etc.
