A good night’s sleep empowers the mind and enables the body to recover for the next day’s rigours. Corporate employees are at the receiving end of some of this. Presented by Kurl-on, the ‘Good Sleep = Good Health’ initiative includes conversations around the importance of sleep, misconceptions about the subject, and what responsible companies can do to bring a change. Here is what our panellists said:Ankur Sharma, CHRO, Aye Finance

Poor sleep impacts employee productivity and mental wellness. We have seen people who remove all the clutter in their life, and whose lifestyles are pretty straightforward and simple. They go home on time and sleep on time; they are pretty much the high performers. There have been enough studies, including on Ivy League campuses, where strong correlations have been established between good sleep and employee productivity.
Dr Rahul Sharma, Additional Director, Pulmonology & Critical Care, Fortis Hospital Noida
I think sleep is the most important part of anyone's life because one third of our life goes into sleep and this is basically to refresh and rejuvenate our body and mind. Inadequate sleep leads to poor concentration, poor quality of life and poor performance, and even affects sexual life. Productivity goes down. Inpiduals need different hours of sleep in different stages of life.
Dr. R. Rajesh, Group Chief Medical Officer, Reliance Industries
According to WEF 2023, every company has to take care of holistic health of its employees. This has different components – physical health, mental health, social health, spiritual health and occupational health – all of which contribute to a healthy sleep schedule. Employees reach out to medical teams with complaints of lack of concentration, anxiety, depression, overweight, hypertension. When we investigate, it is generally due to lack of proper sleep.

Mr Swarup Mohanty, CEO & Director of Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India)
Our office spaces are getting younger, and the young are now impacted by screen time, which takes a toll on their sleep. We have to wake up to the cues of issues that arise due to lack of sleep because no one will walk up and say I am not getting enough sleep. At Mirae, overall health is prioritised through various contests and anyone even with a little bit of a tummy is called out.
Mr Prashant Deshpande, Chief Brand Officer, Kurl-on
We have customers telling us that despite regular workout and diet, their sleep is still disturbed. It is mainly because of the mattress. Shockingly, people do not change their mattresses for as long as a decade. Kurl-on recommends checking the mattress health every three years.
