IPL 2025 Retention Live Updates: Pant to break bidding records in auction?

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra feels if Rishabh Pant is allowed to take part in the IPL 2025 mega auction by Delhi Capitals, the wicketkeeper batter could trigger a major bidding war that would break records this year. 

 

“Rishabh Pant will get a lot of money. The amount could go to Rs 25 crore or even 30. The same is true for KL Rahul. A wicketkeeper-batter and scores 500-600 runs every year. Some people will cry over his strike rate. I saw a meme somewhere that he is more than 30 years old, married, and everyone is saying he is finished, so CSK might take him as such players go there,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Former Indian pacer Irfan Pathan took to his social media account to express his surprise on DC not likely to retain Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer likely to enter the auction and not be a retention pick for defending champions KKR.

IPL 2025 Retention Live Updates: New rule for overseas players!

In order to avoid overseas players pulling out of the IPL just before it starts, BCCi has come up with a rule that will have the players banned for two years if they pull out of the tournament. Only medical and injury reasons would be entertained if a player decides to pull out. 

Foreign players are also instructed to be a part of the mega auction this year. If they fail to do so then they also won't be eligible to take part in the mini auction for next season.
