IND vs ENG 2nd Test Day 3: Here's how the first session went
Starting the day at 28-0, India lost quick wickets, both falling to James Anderson as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal departed. Shubman Gill was lucky enough to survive two LBW calls as he was given out once and then it was reversed because of a faint nick on the bowling of Tom Hartley at another time, the ball was clipping the top of the middle but since it was given not-out, it remained so courtesy of umpire's call on Anderson's bowling.
Gill made good use of both chances as he raced away to his first fifty of the series and added an invaluable 81 runs with Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket. Iyer was caught brilliantly by Stokes off Hartley and then Ben Foakes took a stunning catch behind the stumps to get rid of Patidar and all of a sudden India was four down. Axar though did well to take India to Lunch with Gill with the score at 130/4.
102 runs came from the session at the loss of four wickets in 30 overs.
11:33 AM
It’s Lunchtime
Over Summary: 0 0 1 0 0 0; India 130-4 after 35 overs
Shubman Gill (60), Axar Patel (2); Rehan Ahmed 8-2-28-1
So it will be Rehan Ahmed to bowl the last over before Lunch. A googly and one run from the over would take the teams to Lunch.
11:30 AM
James Anderson into the attack
Over Summary: 0 2 0 1 0 0; India 129-4 after 34 overs
Shubman Gill (57), Axar Patel (2); James Anderson 7-1-15-2
James Anderson is back into the attack for at least one over before Lunch and he will be bowling to Gill. So three runs from the first five balls of the over and it seems like this over would take the teams to Lunch. No, it won’t.
11:21 AM
Four off the over
Over Summary: 1 1 0 0 1 1; India 126-4 after 32 overs
Shubman Gill (54), Axar Patel (2); Tom Hartley 12-0-49-1
Hartley continues to bowl well. But there are always loose balls here and there and as a result, Gill can get easy singles. Four of the over
11:19 AM

Iyer caught by Stokes, India lose 3rd
Over Summary: W 1 1 1 1 1; India 116-3 after 28 overs
Shubman Gill (54), Rajat Patidar (3); Tom Hartley 10-0-44-1
Now that is what we call a game-changing effort. Whether it will change the game or not will be decided by time. But the kind of catch that Stokes has taken is unbelievable. Runs backwards and dives a full stretch near the boundary to pluck this out of the air and break the partnership to give England a chance.
11:00 AM
Gill hits fifty
Over Summary: 0 4 4 0 0 0; India 111-2 after 27 overs
Shubman Gill (52), Shreyas Iyer (29); Rehan Ahmed 4-1-22-0
Making great use of the two chances that he got, Shubman Gill has notched up a second-inning fifty, which shows once again that form is temporary and class is permanent.

Hartley is not having the effect it was expected he would.
