Earlier in the evening, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Delhi got off to the worst possible start as Mohammed Shami was firing all cylinders with the ball. The Titans speedster got 4/11 in his spell as the Capitals reeled at 23/5 in the first five overs. 

 

Axar Patel and Aman Khan then stood against the force and added 50 for the sixth wicket. Axar was trapped by Mohit Sharma as his 99th scalp. Ripal Patel replaced him and added 53 off just 27 balls with Aman to provide some respectability to the Delhi total. While Aman scored 51 (44), Ripal made a quickfire 23 (13). Gujarat came back in the last two overs to concede only 11 runs and restrict the Delhi side to 130/8.

But it was Ishant Sharma who kept his calm and executed the wide yorkers with precision to put pressure on Tewatia who was eventually caught out. They have lost only three matches out of nine this season and all of the losses have come at home.

With just 130 runs to defend to keep their hopes alive of reaching the playoffs, the Delhi Capitals kept going for the wickets and got them too courtesy of Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav and Ishant Sharma. 

 

With 12 to defend, the old warhorse conceded only six runs and got the wicket of Tewatia as well to win the game for his team.

Six!! Length ball this time and a six again. This is pathetic from Nortje who could have bowled a bouncer. Even if he went for a six on the bouncer, it would have been acceptable. 

 

Six!! Brilliant from Tewatia. He knew the bowler would target wide outside off. Nortje could not execute it and then Tewatia hit the full toss for a six.
