India vs England 4th Test, Day 4: 1st session Summary

 

India looked amazing at the start of the first session on Day 4 as they added 45 runs to their overnight score of 40 before Joe Root was brought into the attack by Ben Stokes to give England their first breakthrough. Jaiswal was caught brilliantly by James Anderson at backward point. Rohit Sharma reached his fifty and then against the run play, went down the ground and got stumped by Ben Foakes off Tom Hartley. Rajat Patidar's horrid show with the bat continued as he was out for a duck yet again. He became Shoaib Bashir's first wicket in the second innings. 

 

Ravindra Jadeja then joined Gill and the duo weathered the storm by the English spin to take India to Lunch at 118/3, needing 74 more to win the match. A total of 78 runs were scored in this session of 29 overs at the loss of three wickets and the session was shared by the two teams as England remained ahead in the session battle, leading it 4-3 after the end of 10 sessions.
