The Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl first. They were taken to the cleaners first up as Punjab Kings scored 58/1 in the powerplay. However, Mumbai fought back with three wickets in quick succession to force Punjab to 83/4.

Harpreet Bhatai and Sam Curran though had other ideas as they went after the Mumbai bowlers. They hit Arjun Tendulkar for 31 in one over and from thereon, never looked back. The pair added 92 in just 48 balls.

Later on, Jitesh Sharma went bang bang too as the Kings fetched 96 from the last five overs to end their innings at 214/8 in 20 overs. Piyush Chawla was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai with 2/15 from his three overs.
