The Indian cricket team donned kits with pink-coloured accents on day three of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney to honour Jane McGrath Day, observed annually to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer support.
What is the reason behind it?
Ahead of the day's play, former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath was presented with signed caps by the Indian players in a gesture of solidarity.
A sea of pink for a cause The third day of the Sydney Test, popularly known as Pink Day, saw the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) awash with pink hues—from the stands and stumps to the signage across the venue. The match is part of the larger Pink Test initiative, which raises money for the McGrath Foundation.
Honouring Jane McGrath’s legacy Glenn McGrath established the McGrath Foundation in 2005 after his wife, Jane, passed away due to breast cancer. The foundation, in partnership with Cricket Australia, funds breast care nurses and supports breast cancer patients and survivors across Australia, making the Pink Test a highlight in cricket's calendar for a noble cause.
