Shardul would have picked yet another wicket if not for the ball to fall just short of Ajinkya Rahane at the gully. It was a short ball and Head was surprised more than anything else to just try and play around it.

India's captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first looking at the overcast conditions. India benefited from that as well with Mohammed Siraj getting the wicket of Usman Khawaja, the highest run-getter for Australia in this cycle of WTC for a duck.
Marnus Labuschagne and David Warner went on to add 69 for the second wicket before the latter tried chasing a wide ball down the leg and got caught behind the stumps, brilliantly by KS Bharat off the bowling of Shardul Thakur. This happened just eight balls before Lunch.
While Warner scored 43, Labuschagne is batting on 26. For India, Siraj and Thakur are the two wicket-takers.

David Warner was batting brilliantly before he went head-on with Shardul Thakur. Calle ‘Lord’ colloquially, Thakur is famous for breaking partnerships with weird balls, This was a prime example of that. This was possibly the worst ball to get a wicket on as it was bowled outside leg and was going down the leg and Warner, in an attempt to pull, got an edge and Bharat behind the stumps took a stunner.

Yet another in-swinger from Shardul Thakur hit Marnus Labushcangen on the pads and yet again Indian skipper went with the bowler and called for a review. While the last one was still the umpire’s call on hitting the wickets, this one hit Marnus clearly above the knee roll and was going to miss the wickets completely, thereby making India lose its review.

Marnus Labuschagne has survived a close call as the leg-before-wicket decision on hitting the wickets went in his favour on the bowling of Shardul Thakur. The ball was pitching on the good length at middle and off and hit Labuschagne on the front pad. The umpire that it would miss the wickets as it was above the knee roll and gave it not out. India reviewed and it came as umpire’s call on hitting the wickets. India retain the review.
