Rajasthan polls: BJP's Vasundhara Raje wins Jhalrapatan assembly seat

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vasundhara Raje won the Jhalrapatan assembly constituency in Rajasthan, the Election Commission of India announced on Sunday. Polling on 199 of the 200 assembly seats in the state was held on November 25. According to the Election Commission's website, Raje won the Jhalrapatan seat by a margin of 53,193 votes.

MP polls: Vaishnaw attributes BJP's good showing to people's faith in PM Modi

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday said the Bharatiya Janata Party's good showing in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls was due to people's faith in the guarantees of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his concern for the poor. Vaishnaw said people know only Modi can turn India into a developed nation. The BJP's good showing was also a result of the development work done by the party's "double engine government" at the Centre and in the state, he added.

Congress to cements its position in Southern India with Telangana win

As per the trends from the ECI, the Congress crossed the majority mark, leading on 65 seats in 119-member Telangana Assembly.The BRS is leading on 39 seats, BJP on 9, AIMIM on 5 and CPI on 1. Congress dethroned Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), who has been in power since 2014, when Telangana was granted statehood, by crossing the halfway mark. K Chandrashekar Rao dream of hitting a hat trick was shattered as Congress' hand stops BRS' car ride.

With the BJP heading towards victory in three out of the four states that went to polls recently, the party will now be in power in 12 states on its own, while the Congress, the second largest national party, will come down to three after losing Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
 
The Aam Aadmi Party, with its government in Delhi and Punjab, is third among national parties.
 
The BJP, which rules the centre, is in power in Uttarakhand, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Goa, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, and is all set to get Madhya Pradesh back and snatch Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh from the Congress after today's vote count.

Now, 'Modi tsunami' awaited in Bengal: Suvendu on BJP's performance in assembly polls

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Sunday claimed that the BJP's performance in the assembly elections of three states will have an impact on the political situation in West Bengal, where a "Modi tsunami" was waiting to happen in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Speaking to reporters, Adhikari thanked the Bengali community of Chhattisgarh, claiming that their overwhelming support for the BJP played a decisive role in the assembly elections of that state.

Assembly polls result: PM Modi may address party workers as BJP takes lead

With the trends giving the BJP a lead in three states in the assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address party workers here on Sunday evening, party sources said. They said Modi is likely to address BJP workers at the party headquarters here.
 
According to trends issued by the Election Commission, the BJP was leading in 155 of the 230 seats in Madhya Pradesh and in 54 of the 90 seats in Chhattisgarh. In Rajasthan, the BJP was leading in 111 of 199 seats, while the Congress was leading in Telangana.
