Lok Sabha Elections 2024: An interesting Lok Sabha elections result unfolded in Uttar Pradesh, where the Opposition’s INDIA bloc defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition by winning 43 of the 80 constituencies, the counting trend showed on Tuesday.
The Congress won six seats while the Samajwadi Party won 37 seats by itself, marking a phenomenal return for the both the INDIA bloc parties, which together managed only six seats in the Hindi heartland state in 2019.
The Akhilesh Yadav-led SP had won just five seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the BJP won 62 seats and its ally Apna Dal(S) two.
A total of 851 candidates participated in the Uttar Pradesh elections, including 771 men and 80 women.

Five members of the Yadav family from the Samajwadi Party, including SP chief Akhilesh (Kannauj), sitting MP Dimple Yadav from Mainpuri, Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh, Akshaya Yadav from Firozabad, and Aditya Yadav from Badaun, have also won their respective Lok Sabha constituencies, giving a major morale boost for the party.
Overall, the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the largest winner at 240 seats and with its allies, stands at 293 mark, which is beyond the threashold of 272 needed to form the government. The Congress-led INDIA bloc's total seat score stands at 233.
