West Bengal minister Shashi Panja slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jitendra Tiwari for allegedly threatening to file a defamation case against the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has accused him of 'meeting a National Investigative Agency (NIA) officer and furnishing him with a list of names to take action.' "Who is stopping Jitendra Tiwari from filing a defamation case?" Panja said, speaking to reporters in Howrah on Sunday.
The TMC claimed that on March 26, BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari visited an NIA SP-level officer's residence and handed him a list, based on which the NIA is planning their investigation, spreading terror, and arresting TMC booth-level workers.

LS polls news updates: Tripura braces for General Elections with enhanced security and voting arrangements

Tripura is making comprehensive preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Chief Electoral Officer Puneet Agarwal told news agency ANI. "The wide guidelines given by the Election Commission of India have been followed, and in all the districts having different constituencies, the ARO (assistant returning officers) are working. In the two parliamentary constituencies, Tripura 1 West and Tripura 2 East, the ROs (returning officers), District Magistrates of West Tripura and Dhalai Tripura have taken the necessary action to arrange a fair election procedure," Agarwal stated.
