Finance Ministry notifies 31 state benches of GST appellate tribunal

The Finance Ministry has notified 31 benches of GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) which will be set up in all states and Union Territories.

	Setting up of state-level benches of GSTAT would help businesses by way of faster dispute resolution.

	Currently, taxpayers aggrieved with ruling of tax authorities are required to move the respective High Courts. HC imposes Rs 50 lakh penalty on WB govt for failing to transfer corruption probe to CBI

The Calcutta High Court on Friday imposed a penalty of Rs 50 lakh on the West Bengal government for failing to hand over the investigation from the CID to CBI and ED into alleged irregularities in a women&#39;s cooperative society. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay had earlier ordered that the probe be transferred to the two central agencies and all the documents related to the case be handed over to them.

Court adjourns Naidu's bail petitions to Sep 19 in Skill Development Corporation case

A local Court in Vijayawada on Friday adjourned the hearing of two bail petitions filed by TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu to September 19. Naidu, who has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days for the alleged misappropriation of funds from the Skill Development Corporation, leading to a loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state government, had filed an interim bail petition as well as one seeking regular bail.

Will extend date of summons to BRS leader K Kavitha by 10 days: ED to SC

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday told the Supreme Court it will extend by 10 days the date of summons issued to BRS leader K Kavitha in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy case.

	The agency had issued the summons on Thursday, asking Kavitha to appear on Friday.

	Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S V Raju, appearing for the ED, told a bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia that Kavitha had appeared before the ED earlier and if she has any difficulty, the date of summons will be extended.

Around 22 nations exploring bilateral trade with India in rupee: Sitharaman    

Around 22 countries were negotiating and exploring bilateral trade with India in rupees, Nirmala Sitharaman, the South Asian country&#39;s finance minister said on Friday.

	&quot;About 22 countries are negotiating and approaching us to see if bilateral trade can be held (in rupees). It is also because many of... those countries are running short of dollar,&quot; Sitharaman told news channel NDTV during an interview.
