IT services sector's revenue growth to slow down to 3% in FY24: ICRA

Indian IT services sector's revenue growth will slow down to 3 per cent in the current fiscal from 9.2 per cent in the previous financial year, a domestic ratings company said on Tuesday. Icra Ratings said the profitability will also take a beating in this financial year and the operating profit margin will narrow by up to 1 percentage point to 20-21 per cent. The topline growth will come down to 3-5 per cent in FY24 from the 9.2 per cent posted in FY23, the agency said, attributing the slowdown to softening demand.

Manipur Assembly adjourned sine die after ruckus by Congress MLAs

The one-day session of the Manipur Assembly was adjourned sine die within an hour of commencement after Congress MLAs created a ruckus demanding that the session be extended to five days. The opposition MLAs led by former chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh said one day was not enough to discuss the prevailing situation in the ethnic strife-torn state. All the 10 Kuki MLAs were absent from the House.

China releases new standard map, claims Arunachal Pradesh, Aksai Chin

China has officially released the 2023 edition of its "standard map," which shows the state of Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin region as part of its territory. The map released on August 28 shows Arunachal Pradesh which China claims as South Tibet and Aksai Chin occupied by it in the 1962 war as part of its territory. Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea are also included within the Chinese territory in the new map. The map also incorporates China's claims over the nine-dash line thus laying claim to a large part of the South China Sea.

Rahul Gandhi's claims were true: Raut after China includes Arunachal in map

As China officially released its latest edition of the "standard map," showing the state of Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin region as part of its territory, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's claims in Ladakh were true and that if the Central government has courage then it should do a surgical strike on the South-East Asian country. While speaking to reporters here in a press briefing, Raut said that Rahul Gandhi's claims that China has entered Pangong valley in Ladakh were true. "(Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi) recently attended the BRICS summit and greeted Xi Jinping. After that, comes the map of China. Rahul Gandhi's claim is true that China has entered the Pangong valley in Ladakh. China tries to enter Arunachal. If you (Central government) have courage then do a surgical strike on China," the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader said.

ECI to visit Mizoram to review assembly poll preparedness

A 20-member team of the Election Commission of India (ECI) will arrive in Aizawl on Tuesday on a two-day visit to review preparedness for the upcoming assembly elections in the state, officials said. The delegation will be headed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar. During its visit, the ECI team will meet the chief secretary, director general of police (DGP) and representatives of political parties. They will also interact with the state's icons, persons with disabilities (PwD) voters and youngsters, before holding a press conference on Thursday.

BJP MP accuses Telangana CM of planning massive paddy auction scam

Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Arvind Dharmapuri on Monday, alleged that the state government led by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is preparing to execute a huge scam involving the auction of paddy leftover in the state and warned "The biggest scam is going to unfold in Telangana state". He claimed that the government has framed guidelines that will exclude the existing rice millers from participating in the auction and favour some corporates from Andhra Pradesh who will buy the paddy at a lower price than the minimum support price (MSP). He said that KCR intends to use the money from this scam, which he estimated to be around Rs 4,000 crores, to fund his election campaign.

Pakistan court to announce verdict on Imran Khan's plea against his conviction in corruption case

The Islamabad High Court is set to announce its verdict on Tuesday on former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's plea seeking the suspension of his three-year jail term in the Toshakhana corruption case. A division bench comprising Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri reserved the verdict after hearing both parties' counsels on Monday. The bench later said that the reserved judgment would be announced at 11:00 AM on Tuesday.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi likely to visit Europe next month

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Europe next month and meet European Commission lawmakers in Belgium besides addressing students at a university in Paris. He is also likely to address the Indian diaspora at an event in Oslo in early September, sources said. Notably, his visits abroad will come at a time when the crucial G20 Summit will be held from September 9 to 10 in the national capital. India currently holds the G20 presidency.

Manipur assembly to meet today for first time since violence began

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey has summoned the monsoon session of the Assembly on August 29, according to a notification. The state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister N Biren Singh had on Monday recommended convening the session on that day. The governor hereby summons the 4th session of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly to meet at 11 am, on Tuesday, the 29th August," the notification said.
